I’m not too sure what this little flower/weed thingy is called…all I know is I used to use my always spectacular P.E. time in school to make these little flower crowns…

I was never a fan of the jewel and diamond-studded crowns…I’m more of a flower crown kinda girl…

Maris enjoyed it.  I am soaking up these sweet moments with her before life gets a little crazy.

Did you make these sweet little flower crowns when you were a little girl?…

Oh, Apple Pie…

Apple Pie…..

What I love almost more than eating it is making it…

About a year or so ago, I decided to take on pie world…I wanted to make every kind of pie imaginable…Not just because I am a sugar fanatic…but because I wanted to be able to make really, really, really good crust…

I became a home-made, hand-made, home-cooked food snob…

No more of this buying it ready to go from the store…

So, I set out to make the perfect pie crust for a perfect apple pie.  It didnt go well.  It took me about 45 minutes to make my first crust. Waaaaaaaaaaay too long.  I was so careful and so scared I was going to mess up…and the first one did.  It fell apart because I was taking so darn long. But, then I kept trying…kept at it…and now…

I make it like the pros…ok maybe not that well…but its pretty darn good! Just ask our boys and my husband who devoured this one in 10.5 seconds…along with a big ole tub of vanilla ice cream…

If you’d like to make your own…and I highly recommend doing that over Mrs. Smith’s anyday…I use The Pioneer Woman’s Perfect Pie Crust recipe and Southern Living’s Apple Pie recipe for the filling.

It’s magnificent!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!!!

Have you ever thought about what life was like for Adam and Eve before the Fall?  What it was like to really know God…to talk with Him…to laugh with Him…to explore creation with Him…?

I believe those things happened…

Its kind of muddy to me, the whole time frame of how things happened…the time between the creation of Adam and Eve and when they sinned…but I believe it was a good amount of time.

I can use my God-given imagination…

I see God showing Adam and Eve all of the beautiful places He made…the waters, the beaches, the lush landscapes and forests…

I see Him giving Adam instructions about naming the animals and parading the different creatures before Adam so he could name each one (can you imagine how long that could have taken)…

I see Him smiling so sweetly at Eve and walking with her in the garden and them having such intimate conversation together…

I see them all eating together and laughing over a meal of the finest food you can imagine…

I see Adam and Eve running and swimming and being so in love with each other and so in love with their Creator…and God looking on with such joy that He had made something so wonderful and beautiful as man and woman…

Can you even imagine how wonderful it was?…

And then Paradise is lost…and the story of the Great Rescue begins…

Gosh, wouldn’t it make for a beautiful movie?…

Anyways, thought I would share pieces of my imaginings with you…

Have a lovely Tuesday…

The Beauty of Baseball

I’m not a sports fan.  I do enjoy football in the Fall…but come late October and I’m done.  I have ALWAYS loathed baseball and basketball.  I’d just much rather enjoy watching something not so…well…boring.  Thats just my opinion.

Lately, though, I have begun to come around on Baseball.  I still don’t really enjoy watching it, but I have come to see the beauty in this most slow-moving, nap-inducing game.

I began to pay attention to it when the Red Sox won the world series a few years ago for the first time in like 100 years or something.  My sister and I had a good friend in Tuscaloosa named Reed who is a Red Sox fanatic.  He informed us of the deep history of the Boston Red Sox and “the curse” and many more things about the sport that I can’t remember.  I do remember, for the first time in my life, being a little bit giddy over watching a baseball game… and about moved to tears when Curt Schilling battled out pitch after pitch with blood seeping through his sock… and being extremely thrilled when they won.  I felt apart of it somehow…connected to the whole story…

Since then, I have remained somewhat interested in the sport, mainly during the World Series drama.  And there truly is something beautiful about it all….the oldness of the sport (if that makes sense), the history, the phone in the dugout, the smacking of whatever it is they are chewing on ( reminds me of that gum Big League Chew…I loved that stuff!), the rough-ness and big-ness of the players, names like Joe DiMaggio and Babe Ruth and Willie Mays… and the way it really is absolutely perfect background noise for a glorious afternoon nap….I could probably keep going.  It is beautiful and magical in a way that is different from any other sport…

Maybe I’m being WAY to deep about it…but its just been on my mind…

Makes me want a hot dog and a cute baseball cap…

Or just a nap :)…

I hope your week is going well!
